Geometry Methods for the IR geometry

IR1

The geometry is composed of different parts:

  • vacuum pipes before the TAS
  • vacuum pipes after the TAS
  • TAS anad TAS B
  • magnets: MQXA and MQXB
  • Beam screens
  • Corrector magnets: MCBX and MQSX

Each part will be implemented in a dedicated .dat file with SIMPLEGEO

Geometry Files Regions Methods
Vacuum pipes

cylinder/cylinder or cylinder/ opening cone

cone/cone

Sequences of tubes: the continuity of the regions has to be handled with operations of differences between overlapping element bodies, or by introducing planes delimited the 2 regions.

use a longer length for the smaller aperture cylinder. Create the regions with difference operation

use a plane definition between the 2 regions

Pipes     Difference operation with the inner radius and outer radius+ sequences of the pipes

Quadrupole Magnets

Q1, Q2a, Q2b and Q3

The geometry is composed with the insulation (G10) and the conductors (NbTi) layers ( 2 or 4) + aluminum collar and iron yoke. The 4 copper wedges are also described.

So far, no internal insulation layer implemented: Aperture magnet=3.49 cm

The beam pipe is not implemented in this model.

No cover at each end is implemented.

mechanical length:

Q1=767.6 cm (length of the coils + endcovers, correspond to the magnetic length?)

Beam screens IR1_BS_fluka.inp

(vertical direction)

Beam screens:

#214 to #237

2 configurations:
  • horizontal direction (IP1 for a vertical crossing angle)
  • vertical direction (IP5 for a horizontal crossing angle)
TAS B IR1_BS_h_co_fluka.inp 254 regions

#253

OR=5 cm

z=[]

Corrector magnets IR1_BS_h_co_fluka.inp:

without magnetic field

IR1_BS_h_co_mag.inp: with magnetic field

254 regions

corrector magnets: #238 to #252

  • MCBX1
  • MCBX2
  • MCBX3
  • MQSX
